Trying Something New -WFMW

I stumbled across a neat idea over at "We are THAT Family" and thought I'd give it a try. It's called Works for Me Wednesday and contains links to a bunch of different people with ideas that worked for them. There are A LOT, but the few I've looked at are all really good. Since I'm always looking for ways to make my life easier, I figure other people are too. And since part of the purpose of this blog is to share things that have worked for us, this seems like a perfect fit.

One of my favorite ways to save time and money is to buy hamburger on sale, cook it all up, and then keep it in the freezer in meal-size portions for making a quick dinner at a later date. And we stretch it even further by combining it with cooked wheat. You can find more pictures and details here, but the directions are really quite simple:

Combine equal parts cooked cracked wheat with browned ground beef. When cooking the wheat, add some beef bouillon. I usually add chopped onions, green pepper and/or celery after draining the grease off the hamburger and before adding the cracked wheat. One cup cracked wheat cooked for 15 minutes in 2 cups beef broth and added to about 3 pounds of ground beef is a good ratio for us. Use in any recipe that calls for browned hamburger. Substitute 2 cups wheat/meat for 1 pound of ground beef.

Any "laundry" what WFMW tips? With a house full of clothes wearers ...SURELY you could write a book about what can work! I feel swamped in CONSTANT laundry! :) I have a good rotation down with sizes and such, but NOT getting all the loads taken care of!
